To ensure the physical integrity of both patients and primary care staff, the Ministry of Health implemented the so-called Safety Kit, which consists of the installation of 17 alarms and 40 panic buttons in various doctor’s offices in Santiago. This initiative seeks to reduce the number of attacks on health officials, who have been repeatedly confronted with violent and uncontrolled patients. Panic buttons, which were installed in strategic places in the care centers, may be pressed in an emergency and these will activate the respective alarm. Given this eventuality, police will arrive in a few minutes to contain the situation. According to the Ministry of Health, only last year there were seven serious incidents and more than 60% of the workers said they had suffered physical and verbal aggressions. *Source: La Hora
